Job Description
The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) is mandated by the UN general assembly to advocate for the protection of children’s rights, to help meet their basic needs and expand their opportunities to reach their full potential. Together with our partners, we work in 190 countries and territories to translate that commitment into practical action, focusing special effort on reaching the most vulnerable and excluded children, to the benefit of all children, everywhere.
Job Summary: UNICEF works to ensure that all boys and girls in Uganda, especially the most vulnerable and disadvantaged, realize their rights and have an equal opportunity to survive and thrive. Our content management system plays a crucial role in disseminating information, resources, and updates to our global audience and regular updates are essential to ensure the accuracy and relevance of our content.
Consequently, UNICEF Uganda is looking for two Online Volunteers, fluent in English to support in editing, proof reading, formatting documents and presentations. The volunteers will also support updating Uganda Country office’s electronic content management system (SharePoint) to ensure the relevance of our content and that it is reflective of our ongoing programmes and initiatives.
Online volunteers will receive feedback on their collaboration and quality of work, certificate of appreciation upon successful completion of their assignment and will be given credit of support where applicable.
Duties and Responsibilities
Editing and proofreading:
Assist in review and edit content for accuracy, grammar, style, and consistency with the UNICEF style guide
Assist in proofreading and formatting external facing documents and presentations (for resource partners and other external audience) to ensure they are error-free and of high quality.
Content planning and management:
Organise documents in SharePoint ensuring that all documents are tagged and metadata is up to date
Update office calendar to ensure all key donor engagements are recorded.
Collaboration and coordination:
Work closely with other sections to gather information and organize content that meets their needs.
Coordinate with the Communication team (for photos and videos) to create visually appealing and engaging reports and presentations.
Qualifications and Competencies
We are looking for committed and motivated forward looking online volunteers who are passionate for children and women with excellent writing, editing and proof-reading skills.
Previous experience of similar work is preferred. Excellent communication and collaboration skills. Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
Languages: English, Level: Fluent, Required
