The Mountains of the Moon University, is a public university in Uganda. Founded as a private, non-profit institution, the university became a public institution following an executive directive in January 2018. It is named after the Rwenzori Mountains, also known as the Mountains of the Moon.

Job Description
Laboratory Technicians are essential professionals who work in various types of laboratories, including medical, research, industrial, and environmental labs. Their primary responsibilities involve performing tests, analyzing samples, and maintaining laboratory equipment.
Duties and Responsibilities
Sample Collection and Preparation
Sample Collection: Collect samples from patients, environments, or other sources according to established procedures.
Sample Preparation: Prepare samples for analysis, including processing, labeling, and storing samples appropriately.
Conducting Tests and Experiments
Test Execution: Perform a range of tests and experiments using laboratory equipment and techniques, such as chemical assays, microbiological cultures, or physical measurements.
Instrument Operation: Operate and maintain laboratory instruments and equipment, such as microscopes, centrifuges, and spectrometers.
Data Collection and Analysis
Data Recording: Accurately record test results, observations, and experimental data.
Data Analysis: Analyze data to identify trends, patterns, and anomalies, and generate reports based on findings.
Quality Control and Assurance
Quality Checks: Perform routine quality control checks to ensure the accuracy and reliability of test results.
Calibration: Calibrate and maintain laboratory instruments and equipment to ensure they are functioning correctly.
Qualifications and Competencies
Bachelor's degree in Science Technology (Physics or Chemistry) or Laboratory Science Technology (Physics or Chemistry)
Should possess an experience of at least two (2) years' experience of laboratory practice in a reputable institution. Should have good interpersonal relationship and training skills.
Should have integrity
Should have good report writing ills.
Should be registered with a professional organization where required.
