Lead Mechanical Engineer( Fluides – Concepteur ) Retainer job at UNOPS
Job Description
Under the supervision of the project manager(s), and depending on the specific needs of each mission, the consultant will be expected to perform the following tasks:
Duties and Responsibilities
Carry out the technical plans related to the plumbing and/or HVAC installations as part of each project, taking into account the removal of any defective installation if necessary. This includes analyzing existing plans, designing new facilities, and coordinating with other stakeholders.
Analysis of existing plans: The fluid engineer will have to analyze the existing plans in detail in order to identify defective or obsolete installations.
Removal of defective installations: Based on the existing plans drawn up by the architect and with the coordination of the project engineers, the fluid engineer will have to identify the defective installations to be removed. This also includes the sizing of equipment (sanitary facilities, air conditioning networks, etc. The engineer will have to plan the appropriate methods to remove these installations while ensuring the safety of the workers and the protection of the building.
Design of new plumbing and/or HVAC installations: based on the plans produced by the architect or any other entity and at the request of the Project Manager, the fluid engineer will have to design the new installations.
Coordination with other stakeholders: The fluid engineer will have to collaborate closely with the other professionals involved in the project, such as the architect, the electrical engineer and the technical team of the project or any other member joining the project. He will have to ensure, together with the technical team of the project, effective coordination between the different trades to guarantee the harmonious integration of the new installations into the building.
Prepare technical documentation, including calculation notes, specifications and user manuals, etc.
Project Supervision: Plan and supervise the installation, operation, and repair of designed systems.
Perform tests and trials to ensure that systems and equipment meet specifications and safety standards.
Diagnose and resolve problems with installed systems, and ensure the development of preventive and corrective maintenance plans.
Ensure that projects comply with current standards and regulations.
Train and support technical teams, users and maintenance staff on the use and management of installed systems.
Qualifications and Competencies
An engineering degree in Fluid, Electromechanical, Mechanical, Hydraulic Engineering or any similar discipline (BAC+5) is required.
Professional experience:
The candidate must have at least 5 years of experience in the field of building design
Experience in a minimum of 3 healthcare building projects is required
Experience working within the United Nations system is an asset.
Languages:
Fluency in French is required.
Knowledge of English is an asset.
