The Mountains of the Moon University, is a public university in Uganda. Founded as a private, non-profit institution, the university became a public institution following an executive directive in January 2018. It is named after the Rwenzori Mountains, also known as the Mountains of the Moon.

Job Description
To teach, supervise, promote research studies and disseminate research findings.The duties of a Senior Lecturer in Medical Laboratory Science or Medical Laboratory Technology encompass teaching, research, administration, and industry engagement.
Duties and Responsibilities
Teaching and Curriculum Development
Lecturing: Deliver lectures, seminars, and practical sessions to undergraduate and postgraduate students in subjects related to medical laboratory science or technology.
Curriculum Design: Develop and revise course materials, ensuring that they are aligned with the latest scientific advancements and industry standards.
Student Assessment: Design, administer, and evaluate assessments, including exams, lab reports, and practical exams.
Practical Supervision: Oversee laboratory sessions, ensuring students develop practical skills in clinical and diagnostic procedures.
Research and Scholarly Activities
Conduct Research: Engage in research activities in medical laboratory science or technology, contributing to the development of new diagnostic methods, technologies, or understanding of diseases.
Publications: Publish research findings in reputable scientific journals, and present at conferences and seminars.
Grant Writing: Secure research funding through grant proposals to support research projects.
Collaboration: Work with colleagues, healthcare institutions, and industry partners on collaborative research initiatives.
Industry Engagement and Professional Development
Clinical Collaboration: Maintain and develop relationships with clinical laboratories, hospitals, and healthcare organizations to ensure course content reflects current clinical practices.
Professional Consultancy: Provide consultancy services to medical laboratories or healthcare institutions, offering expert advice on laboratory practices or diagnostics.
Continuous Learning: Stay informed about the latest developments in medical laboratory science, integrating new knowledge into teaching and research.
Administration and Leadership
Departmental Leadership: Take on leadership roles within the department, such as course coordinator, or chairing committees, contributing to the strategic management of the program.
Mentorship: Mentor junior faculty members, providing guidance in teaching, research, and professional development.
Quality Assurance: Participate in quality assurance activities, including accreditation processes, curriculum reviews, and teaching evaluations.
Student Support and Advising
Academic Advising: Provide academic guidance to students, helping them navigate their studies and plan their careers in medical laboratory science or technology.
Career Mentorship: Support students in identifying career opportunities, internships, and further education paths.
Pastoral Care: Offer support to students dealing with academic or personal challenges, directing them to appropriate resources when necessary.
Qualifications and Competencies
Should have a Masters degree in Medical Lab Science or Medical Lab Technology, but on a PhD track in the Medical Lab Science or Technology and Bachelor's (Hons) Degrees in Medical Lab Science or Medical Lab Medical Lab Technology or Medicine and Surgery (MBCHB).
First Class or Second Upper Bachelor's Degree in Medical Lab Science or Technology.
Experience and Competences
Should have at least three (3) years of teaching experience.
Demonstrated computer literacy and adequate communication skills are a MUST.
Being a registered professional is an added advantage.
