Job Description
Malaria Consortium is recruiting for an M&E and Research Officer to join our team in Moroto, Uganda under the Seasonal Malaria Chemoprevention (SMC) programme.
Duties and Responsibilities
Monitoring and Evaluation Planning:
Develop and implement comprehensive M&E frameworks and plans for projects and programs.
Design indicators, tools, and methodologies for monitoring and evaluating project activities and outcomes.
Establish baseline data and set targets for project performance.
Data Collection and Analysis:
Conduct regular data collection activities, including surveys, interviews, focus groups, and observations.
Ensure the accuracy, reliability, and validity of data collected.
Analyze quantitative and qualitative data to assess project progress and impact.
Reporting and Documentation:
Prepare regular M&E reports, including progress reports, impact assessments, and evaluation findings.
Document lessons learned, best practices, and success stories from project implementation.
Present findings and recommendations to project stakeholders, including donors, management, and partners.
Research Activities:
Design and conduct research studies to inform program design and implementation.
Develop research proposals, including objectives, methodologies, and budgets.
Review and synthesize existing research and literature relevant to the project.
Capacity Building:
Train project staff and partners on M&E concepts, tools, and practices.
Provide ongoing technical support and guidance on data collection, analysis, and reporting.
Foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement within the project team.
Stakeholder Engagement:
Collaborate with project stakeholders to ensure their input and participation in M&E activities.
Engage with beneficiaries to gather feedback and assess their satisfaction with project interventions.
Facilitate stakeholder meetings, workshops, and presentations to share M&E findings and recommendations.
Quality Assurance:
Ensure that M&E activities adhere to organizational standards, donor requirements, and ethical guidelines.
Conduct regular audits and reviews of M&E processes and data quality.
Implement corrective actions to address any identified issues or gaps in M&E practices.
Data Management:
Develop and maintain databases and information management systems for storing and managing M&E data.
Ensure data security and confidentiality in accordance with organizational policies.
Use data visualization tools and techniques to present data in an accessible and meaningful way.
Program Improvement:
Use M&E and research findings to inform program design, strategy, and decision-making.
Identify opportunities for innovation and improvement in project implementation.
Provide evidence-based recommendations to enhance project effectiveness and sustainability.
Compliance and Accountability:
Ensure compliance with donor requirements and organizational policies regarding M&E and reporting.
Promote transparency and accountability in project implementation and reporting.
Address any M&E-related issues or challenges in a timely and effective manner.
Qualifications and Competencies
Postgraduate diploma in public health, epidemiology, international health, international development, or a related field (or equivalent work experience
Master’s degree in related field will be an added advantage
Experience in developing M&E or research protocols and data collection tools
Experience of implementing M&E or research field activities
Experience of M&E or research data collection and analysis
Experience in developing M&E or research, such as reports, presentations, posters and articles in peer-reviewed academic publications
Experience in M&E or research-related project management
