Job Description
World Vision Uganda is a Christian Relief, Development and Advocacy Non-Government Organization dedicated to working with children, families and communities to overcome poverty and injustice. Duties and Responsibilities
Familiarize with the new concepts and approach of the LIFT to ensure project implementation aligns with the objectives of LIFT.
Mobilizes the support from key stakeholders which catalyse community engagement to improve child well-being and their buy-in to ‘start early’ for child development. Consider participants as partners instead of beneficiaries.
Deliver community outreach sessions on the importance of early childhood development and mobilize the participation of parents and caregivers of young children.
Implement activity sessions, awareness events and information dissemination that reflects the social, emotional, cognitive, creative and emotional needs of young children with the support of the Project Officer-Child Wellbeing and the other LIFT team members.
Involve in the creation of low-cost materials for early age activities and apply them in close consultation with the Project Officers Child Wellbeing and Project Manager.
Build relationships with LIFT facilitators and parents/caregivers participating in the early childhood development activities and conduct home visits for follow-up and check in when appropriate.
Plan, organize and run activities with LIFT Facilitators, caregivers and their young children in line with the design and work plan of the LIFT project.
Consider the different development milestones of children and implement activities for 0-3 and 3-6 years old respectively
Work with LIFT facilitators to set up and maintain project materials and equipment as required in the LIFT centre.
Promote, support and facilitate parent/caregiver-child relationships and respond to parent, family and community requests for information on child care and development.
Work with LIFT facilitators to identify and refer caregivers and their young children in need of specialized support and other services.
Plan and coordinate with other Project Assistants-Child Wellbeing (6-12 years, 12-17yrs and Caregiver Group) to implement intergenerational activities and to ensure linkage between activities.
Report to the Project Officer and sometimes to the Manager on any issues, challenges or gaps in implementation.
Assessment, Monitoring and Reporting
Collect and organize the data on the activities and ensure that all the relevant reports/forms are duly filled.
Develop and use weekly work plan with support from the Project Officer-Child Wellbeing and Project Manager.
Contribute to weekly and monthly reports submitted to the Project Manager/Area Manager that include information on project progress, achievements and challenges.
Participate and contribute to the Action Learning of the LIFT pilot project.
Ensure the data collection and storage respect data protection and information sharing protocols, particularly in terms of confidentiality and do no harm principles.
Collaborate closely with the MEAL Officer to monitor activities with defined monitoring tools and document learning and best practices.
Identify success stories/ stories of impact and contribute to the development of marketing/communication projects.
Collect feedback from the project participants and community structures and submit to the Project officer and MEAL Officer
Support the Project Officer-Child Wellbeing and MEAL team to identify risk factors for poor child developmental outcomes for early age group.
Capacity Building & Coordination
Acquire skills and knowledge to implement integrated programme to achieve child wellbeing outcomes across sectors.
Share capacity building needs with the Project Officer-Child Wellbeing and/or the Technical Team.
Attend internal and external trainings on related topics to enhance knowledge on child wellbeing, early childhood development programming, specific curriculums and other thematic areas.
Participate in internal meetings and coordinate with other programme/sector teams.
Other
Adhere to WV Child and Adult Safeguarding policy and standards.
Adhere to WV accountability standards.
Qualifications and Competencies
Degree in Relevant Field:
A bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, education, public health, child development, or a related field.
A master’s degree may be preferred, especially for roles with greater responsibility or in larger organizations.
Training in Child Protection:
Specific training or certification in child protection, safeguarding, or child rights is highly desirable.
Experience Requirements:
Relevant Experience:
Experience working in child-focused programs, NGOs, or community services.
Experience in administrative roles or project support, particularly in child wellbeing or social services.
