Job Description

The engagement manager is often the primary point of contact for clients. They are responsible for building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, understanding their needs, and ensuring client satisfaction with the services provided.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Client Relationship Management: The engagement manager is often the primary point of contact for clients. They are responsible for building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, understanding their needs, and ensuring client satisfaction with the services provided.

  • Project Management: They oversee the execution of projects related to application management, ensuring that projects are delivered on time, within budget, and meet quality standards. This includes defining project scope, creating project plans, allocating resources, and managing risks.

  • Resource Management: Engagement managers are typically responsible for managing the team of professionals assigned to work on client projects. This includes recruiting, hiring, training, and evaluating team members to ensure they have the necessary skills and expertise to meet client needs.

  • Financial Management: They are often responsible for managing the financial aspects of client engagements, including budgeting, forecasting, and tracking project expenses. They ensure that projects are profitable and that financial targets are met.

  • Risk Management: They identify and manage risks associated with client engagements, including technical, operational, and financial risks. This involves developing risk mitigation strategies and ensuring that appropriate measures are in place to address potential issues.

  • Quality Assurance: Engagement managers are responsible for ensuring that the services provided meet quality standards and exceed client expectations. This may involve implementing quality assurance processes, conducting regular reviews and audits, and addressing any issues that arise.

  • Communication: They facilitate communication between the client and the service provider, ensuring that both parties are kept informed of project status, issues, and progress. Qualifications and Competencies

  • Technical Proficiency: An AMF engagement manager should have a solid understanding of application management principles, methodologies, and technologies. They should be familiar with various software development lifecycles, ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library) practices, and relevant tools and platforms used in application management.

  • Project Management Skills: Strong project management skills are essential for overseeing client engagements effectively. This includes the ability to define project scope, create project plans, allocate resources, manage budgets, and track progress to ensure that projects are completed on time and within budget.

  • Leadership Abilities: An effective engagement manager should be able to inspire and motivate their team members to achieve project goals and deliver high-quality results. They should be capable of providing direction, making decisions, resolving conflicts, and fostering a positive work environment.

  • Client Relationship Management: Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients is a critical aspect of the role. An AMF engagement manager should have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to understand client needs, address concerns, and manage expectations effectively.

  • Problem-Solving Skills: The ability to identify issues, analyze problems, and develop effective solutions is essential for success in this role. Engagement managers should be proactive in identifying potential risks and issues and implementing strategies to mitigate them.

  • Education and Experience: While specific educational requirements can vary, a bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, business administration, or a related field is often preferred. Relevant certifications in project management (e.g., PMP), IT service management (e.g., ITIL), or specific technologies may also be beneficial.
