Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Backend Developer with expertise in JavaScript frameworks to join our dynamic team. This is a remote position, allowing you to work from anywhere. As a key member of our development team, you will be responsible for architecting, implementing, and maintaining robust and scalable web applications that delight our users.

Duties and Responsibilities

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define technical requirements and architect scalable backend solutions that meet business objectives.
Design, Develop and maintain RESTful APIs and microservices using modern JavaScript frameworks Node.js, and Express.js.
Design and optimise database schemas and queries for efficient data storage and retrieval, leveraging technologies like PostgreSQL, or Redis.

Integrate with third-party APIs and services to extend the functionality of our applications and enhance user experience.
Conduct code reviews, provide constructive feedback, and contribute to architectural discussions to foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and best practices in backend development, and proactively identify opportunities to enhance our technology stack and development processes.

Qualifications and Competencies

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).
3+ years of hands-on experience in backend development, with a strong focus on JavaScript frameworks.
Proficiency in modern JavaScript framework for backend development Node.js and Express.js including knowledge of asynchronous programming and event-driven architecture.
Solid understanding of web technologies such as HTTP, RESTful APIs, and JSON.
Experience with relational and NoSQL databases and ORM libraries most especially Sequelize.
Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git) and collaborative development workflows.

Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues independently.
Experience with AWS is a plus. I.e EC2, RDS, S3 and cloudwatch
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with team members and stakeholders.
Passion for technology and a desire to continuously learn and grow in a fast-paced startup environment.
Familiarity with CI/CD concepts is a plus .
Contributions to open-source projects or a strong online presence are a plus.
