Quantity Surveyor job at Workforce Africa
Job Description
Collaborate with project managers, architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure cost-effective project delivery.
Duties and Responsibilities
Conduct cost estimation and budgeting for construction projects, including material, labor, and overhead costs.
Prepare tender documents, including bills of quantities, specifications, and contract documents.
Assist in the tendering process, including evaluating bids and negotiating contracts with subcontractors and suppliers.
Monitor project costs and provide regular reports to stakeholders on cost performance and variances.
Manage contracts and ensure compliance with contractual terms and conditions.
Provide expert advice on cost management strategies and value engineering solutions to optimize project costs.
Collaborate with project managers, architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure cost-effective project delivery.
Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and best practices in quantity surveying and cost consultancy.
Qualifications and Competencies
Professional Accreditation:
Certification from a recognized professional body such as the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) or the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) is highly preferred.
Becoming a Chartered Quantity Surveyor through RICS is often required for career advancement.
Experience:
Relevant Experience:
Several years of experience in quantity surveying or a related field, with hands-on experience in cost management, estimation, and contract administration.
Experience in a specific sector (e.g., commercial, residential, infrastructure) relevant to the employer's projects can be beneficial.
Technical Skills:
Cost Estimation:
Proficiency in preparing cost estimates and budgets for construction projects.
Financial Management:
Strong skills in managing project finances, including cost planning, cost control, and value engineering.
